Easy Games for Toddlers for the Xbox 360
All your kids want to do is play videogames. We feel your pain! Not all screen time is bad, though, especially not when the games are educational, cooperational, and/or motivational. Gaming doesn't have to be a solitary, solo activity either; Xbox 360 games can be uber fun for the whole family to play and enjoy together! And really, is there a better feeling than seeing the look on your kiddo's face when you gift them THE game that they've been waiting for? Nope!
Check out our list of the coolest Xbox 360 games for your kids to enjoy.
Lego Games
1. Lego Jurrasic World
Your dino-loving little one will be all over this xbox game. Players get to choose which character from the Jurassic World movie they want to be (Owen, Dr. Wu, Claire, etc.) and they get to build their very own dinosaur-themed park with Lego bricks! Even better than that, they get to chase after lost or runaway dinosaurs! It can be played with or without an internet connection, and there are options for single players or multiplayer cooperation. Given that players might see a Lego T-rex eating a human, littler kiddos might not enjoy this game – it's mostly for gamers ages 10 and up.
2. Lego Harry Potter
Lego Harry Potter actually has two different versions, "Years 1-4" and "Years 5-7." Luckily, you can get a package deal for both of them at once, and for a great price. The setting and scenery are iconic and unforgettable (Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, etc.), there are over 100 characters to choose from (Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, etc.), and players can enjoy all of the epicness that Hogwarts has to offer, including attending classes, mixing potions, flying on broomsticks, and even playing Quiddich. While it may be aimed at kids ages 10 and up, younger kids can enjoy it too – just watch out for the scary scenes with trolls and black magic!
Disney Games
3. Disney Infinity 3
It's never too early to introduce your kiddos to the wonder that is Star Wars. This game requires the use of figurines and playsets, and although past versions of the game have used Marvel characters, this one comes with Star Wars figures. The Marvel characters can still be used, though, and can be combined with the Star Wars set and any other sets your kids might acquire. Everything from Frozen characters to Zootopia, to Iron Man can all play together here.
4. Kinect Rush: A Disney-Pixar Adventure
Here is another game for Disney lovers. Whether it's a child or an adult playing, there is a ton of fun to be had here as you run, throw, and jump to solve puzzles, play games, and enjoy activities. It's challenging enough for adults as they play alongside their kiddos, and definitely colorful and entertaining enough to keep younger players interested too. There are many beloved Disney Pixar characters featured in this Xbox 360 game, including those from Up, Cars, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Toy Story. No characters ever die in this game, so the content is appropriate for kids as young as 2 or 3, but some of the more physical aspects mean that those ages 5 and up can play it best.
5. Kinect Disneyland Adventures

So you can't afford to take your kids to Disneyland right now? No problem! This immersive game uses the Kinect motion controller and allows your young'uns to explore Disneyland from the comfort of home. They can interact with a bunch of their favorite Disney characters, including Mickey, Peter Pan, Cinderella, Pinocchio, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, and many others. As they travel around the park, players get to play different mini-games (instead of actually going on the rides) and earn Disney-themed currency. As you can imagine, this is a fantastic game for kids of all ages, even though the box recommends ages 10 and up.

For your sports-obsessed mini-me, check out the newest version of on-screen soccer fun. This game has been out for several years – there are currently 27 versions, including the FIFA 20 game available for the Xbox One – and this particular version offers some pretty great lessons for kids. Just as playing on an actual sports team does, the game encourages healthy competition, learning to cooperate and support teammates, and that practice makes perfect. Both boys and girls can play this one (it has both men's and women's national teams to choose from), and there's essentially no violence, so it's safe for all ages.
7. Need For Speed: Most Wanted

Who doesn't love a good racing game? Players can select from a huge variety of cars to race with, including Porche, BMW, and Aston Martin models, as well as other mainstream North American cars like Chevrolet, Ford, and Mazda. Oh, and the cars are super fun individual drivers to customize. The game consists of sprint races, circuit races, and speed runs – an opportunity to drive as fast as possible through a course. Now, this game does encourage disobeying and disregarding cops and other law enforcement, and there are many scenes with crashes and collisions (the injured drivers are never pictured, however) so it's not appropriate for younger, more impressionable children. It's best if players are at least 12 years old.
Music and Dancing Games

Any musical little fingers in your house? They'll love feeling like a rock star by playing this wicked new take on a much-loved game! There's even a newly designed guitar controller, one that is sure to make the player feel the music and the glory of being a true musician. Whether young virtuoso prefers Jimmy Hendrix or Taylor Swift, they'll have tons of fun matching the notes on screen, unlocking new levels to achieve Hero status, and can enjoy playing alone or try the competition mode. This way they can play with friends or other online music lovers. Some of the songs contain mature content, so it may not be appropriate for children under age 10 – perhaps even 13.
9. Just Dance 2019
Now here's an Xbox 360 game that the whole family can enjoy – four players at a time! Everyone from grandma and grandpa to the smallest kidlet of your brood can enjoy dancing along with the virtually endless selection of music available on this game. Whether your kids prefer Disney music, Maroon 5, Camilla Cabello, or Snoop Dogg, they'll find it all! This particular version of the game has a new World Dance Floor option where multiplayer events and online parties can be had – yes, parties! Due to some of the more mature content of the song lyrics, the game is recommended for kiddos over the age of 10.
Animal Games

Pandas, koalas, tigers, and panthers? Yes, please! Children as young as 3 years old can enjoy playing this game, either solo or with the help of a parent, friend, or another family member – especially if the youngster can't yet read, as there is a bit of on-screen text involved. They are able to adopt a sweet, big-eyed, furry animal, give it a name, and spend time grooming and caring for their wild pet. The animals can even be taught tricks! Players, whatever their age, don't have to worry about completing tests or challenges if they don't want to. It's just easy and fun! Many users have said it's best for ages 5 and up, but with help, even 3-year-olds can enjoy this game.
11. Zoo Tycoon
Zoo Tycoon - Xbox 360
- With tons of beautiful species, reactive...
- Perform intuitive face to face...
- Design, build and manage your zoo....
- English (Publication Language)
Yes, this game is exactly what it sounds like: a chance to build your own zoo from the ground up. Players get to design the layout of their zoo, design habitats and maintain animal exhibits, hire and manage employees, keeps visitors safe and happy, and also deal with money. Of course, players also get to be up close and personal with the animals! Doesn't the idea of hand-feeding a banana to a giraffe sound pretty awesome? Your kids will think so too! As fun as it is to interact with animals, though, the money and managerial aspects of the game make it more suitable for kids ages 7 and up.
Franchise Favorite Games
12. Skylanders: Superchargers
This isn't your typical video game. The Superchargers game uniquely combines the use of physical Skylander toys with a digital game – meaning that the kids can play with their figurines, those figurines send messages to the digital game, and a new experience is created for your little gamers. Kids get to choose their character, then travel oversea, sky, and land in order to save the Skylands. It's easy to connect with friends too and embark on these epic adventures together. Because of things like guns, missiles, and other weapons used in the game, only children ages 10 and up should try this game.
13. Minecraft Story Mode
Chances are your kid has already played (or at least heard of) the original Minecraft co op game with survival and creative mode. And they probably loved it. Enter Minecraft Story Mode! In this game, the player is Jesse/Jessie (can be male or female), a new Minecraft player embarking on a quest to find The Order of the Stone, which is a group made up of other adventurers. It's sort of a choose-your-own-adventure-type game, which makes it super engaging and unique for each individual player. The rating is for ages 10 and up, but the game's minimal violence and cartoonish features make it reasonable for almost all ages.
14. Sesame Street: Once Upon A Monster
All your favorite Sesame Street characters are dying to interact with your kids in this story-based game that encourages problem-solving, physical activity, creative thinking, and even practicing math skills during gameplay. Elmo, Cookie Monster, Oscar, Grover, and all your – er, I mean, your kids' – favorite monsters are part of the storyline, where each "chapter" features one particular character and a problem they need help with. Just as the television show itself is equal parts adorable and educational, which means all kids, ages 4 and up, can have fun. Maybe even younger children, with a bit of help from parents.
Brain Building Games
15. Body and Brain Connection
Would you believe that this game was created by a Japanese neuroscientist for the original xbox? It's true! Dr. Ryuta Kawashima used his research on how physical activity affects the brain and designed to come up with Brain and Body Connection. The Little Einsteins in your life will keep mentally and physically sharp as they play through the math, logic, reflex, memory, and physical requirements of this unique game. Up to four players can enjoy this game at the same time, so the whole family can work on keeping their minds and bodies in peak condition. It has an "E for Everyone" rating, and although the game works with what you already know, some of the more advanced math problems mean it's tricky for kids under the age of 5.
16. National Geographic Challenge
Nothing says education like National Geographic! This great game consists of five different modes for your young brain busters to try: single-player, classic puzzles, puzzle challenge, explorer, and multi-player puzzle modes. Don't worry about the game getting boring or repetitive because there's a total of 4,000 questions to answer, questions that range from anagrams to "fast focus." The topics covered include geographical wonders, animals and nature, famous art and artists, and even historical figures like Julius Caesar. Also, the visuals are stunning! The advanced nature of the questions and subject matter, though, means this game is best for older kids ages 10 and up.
Final Thoughts
And there you have it. The Xbox 360 console can be more than just a method by which your kids annoy you as they stare at the screen for hours on end; it can be a tool for education AND entertainment for the entire family! Really, spending time playing video games can be just as nurturing as any other family activity as long as it's played together. So, choose one of the above options and start having fun!
